After receiving the No. 2 seed with a 4-4 record, the Romans pounced on the Egyptians in the semifinal by scoring multiple runs in the first four innings of a 17-6 contest.<br /><br />Then, in the championship the Romans took a 1-0 lead in the first inning off a home run and never relinquished the advantage against the Greeks, the regular season champion.<br /><br />After the starting the season with a 3-0 record, the Romans finished the season with a subpar 1-4 record before making their run through the YAM-NW Softball playoffs.<br /><br />The Greeks earned the runner-up playoff position by finishing with a 6-3 record and the Egyptians, which earned the ‘Team Spirit Award’ finished third with a 2-7 record.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/22262818-115628656927892875?l=yamnwsports.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>YAM-NWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18201404428266444062noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22262818.post-1140719383496688062006-02-23T10:19:00.000-08:002006-02-23T12:33:46.620-08:00<div align="center"><strong>2006 Champion-The Angels</strong></div><a href="http://www.yamnwsports.homestead.com/files/angels06.jpg"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/5719/2263/320/angelssm06.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />'Fear the Halo' was the best way to describe the Angels' run to the 2006 YAM-NW Volleyball championship.<br /><br />After the Angels picked up the No. 4 seed with a 17-19 record and were considered the darkhorse in the field, they defeated the defending champion Disciples two games to one in the first semifinal, a rematch of last year's title match.<br /><br />Then, in a spirited title match, the Angels took care of business on serve receive defense and put the Saints away in two games to finish with a 21-20 record. The Saints, playing in their first title game, finished with an even 20-20 record to claim the runner-up position.<br /><br />The Angels became the only team to earn back-to-back trips to the championship match.
